Listening to her Gifts from Heaven I am reminded of how soul-satisfying and moving a beautiful melody can be in the hands of a gifted pianist/composer. You can feel the love in every note. Conceived in Israel, several of the thirteen pieces are based on
ancient Hebrew melodies. All of the tracks have a balm-like quality to them: soothing, nurturing, and bringing a deep sense of peace and fulfillment. Shoshannah's music evokes a classical old world beauty. It's elegant simplicity is the loving outpouring of a pure soul. The composer is a servant of the Divine.

A lovely collection of solo piano compositions "in praise of the Infinite Light" rises above the crowd here.  Though there is nothing but the single voice of the piano, this release fills your space with richness in the same way an empty room suddenly overflows with children's laughter. These pure melodies, with titles like "Blessing of Peace" and "Divine Embrace", are clearly spiritually inspired, firmly within the New Age genre, but Shoshannah's classical background is readily apparent.  She writes in her liner notes, "these melodies are filled with the message of love from heaven's gates. They radiate light, joy, thankfulness, and praise. "  Frankly, after listening, you'll probably agree. 

Sanctuary by Shoshannah

The other day I was listening to Shoshannah's "Sanctuary" album while driving through some of New York State's most magnificent scenery. It was an experience of pure joy and beauty for nature's artistry and Shoshannah's music complemented each other completely.

Rich masterful, deeply expressive, "Sanctuary" is a moving solo piano work by a gifted and inspired composer/pianist.

Shoshannah takes us through the full range of human emotions... from delicate bird-winged strokes to chords of sweeping power and depth. Her piano is both powerful and sublime, passionate and reflective. It fills me to overflow.

Described as a combination of Old World beauty and New Age vision, "Sanctuary" blends Classical, modal Hebraic melodies, impressionistic harmonies and Middle Eastern rhythms into such themes as hope, forgiveness, and compassion. These compositions are focused highly visual, melodic and healing. "Sanctuary" is not background music. It deserves our full listening attention.

Of all the excellent selections on the album, most notable are
"Moontime", "A Waltz from Heaven (Adon Olam)" and particularly
"Eternal Light" - a deeply moving piece that beautifully expresses
the yearning, struggle and ultimate triumph of the human spirit.

Shoshannah began composing at the age of six and hasn't stopped since. Now she offers us a special gift. In a world of dissonance, Shoshannah offers a musical sanctuary of Beauty, Harmony and Love.

Shoshannah is a composer/pianist, educator, performer and recording artist. She has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall, the U.N., Lincoln Center, the Los Angeles World Music Festivals and with the Bicentennial Concert Tour through Switzerland, to name a few. She is currently teaching private classes in New York.
